Forest Bathing
What is Forest Bathing?
Forest Bathing is a direct translation of ‘Shinrin Yoku’ and despite what the name suggests, it is not wild swimming. In fact, we bathe in the beauty and restorative powers of nature. Developed in Japan, the concept of Shinrin Yoku is very simple: to slow down and immerse yourself in the forest atmosphere in order to improve your well-being and positively impact your health and deepen your connection to nature.
Amanda guides both individuals and groups into the woods through a mindful, gentle and calming ‘woodland well-being’ session. Additionally, we orchestrate group and individual public events in beautiful locations across Sussex and beyond, including National Trust properties, private woodlands and private and public parks. We can create bespoke Forest Bathing sessions where requested or include you in our regular, scheduled walks.
How will it benefit us?
Through your forest bathing session, both you and your group will release stress at a fundamental level and source rare feelings of calm and stillness. Using all of your senses (including others we are generally unaware of), plus the breath to ground you in the moment and calm your mind, you can reconnect and build a deep relationship with Mother Earth. Your senses become magnified.
How often do we take the time to stop, focus our attention on the smaller details or engage with the vast and powerful wilderness to simply connect with the outdoor places we love? In an age where nature deficit disorder has become a recognised syndrome, Forest Bathing readdresses the balance and helps you to find a sense of perspective and contentment that comes from feeling at home in the great outdoors.
Everybody needs a connection to nature in all of its forms, from experiencing wild, elemental environments to sitting in a local park. These encounters fill you with joy and rapture, increasing your appetite for life.
